At the start of the academic year, and at key points throughout it, School of One students take an intensive diagnostic test which provides a picture of each student's academic strengths and weaknesses, forming the basis for his or her playlist.
Every School of One session ends with a brief online quiz, customized for every student's daily playlist. Performance on the daily quiz determines which students will be promoted to a new skill the following day, helps teachers learn about which lessons and which modalities work best for which students, and keeps teachers up to date on every student's progress.
In addition to daily quizzes, School of One students take online unit-level tests that require them to synthesize their learning from multiple skills. By using data from both quizzes and unit tests, teachers can make sure their students are learning the fundamentals and also putting them together to develop deep mastery.
